Roeland Street is situated in Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa. It is on the east side of Cape Town. It is next to Town house Hotel. The length of this street is 0.09 kilometres. This street is one of the major design hubs of Cape Town city. It is full of creativity and life because there are lots of respected buildings on it. It has occupied many historical buildings and lots of memories, as it was the street that the late President of South Africa, President Nelson Mandela love to use.
Roeland street route going to the parliament.
If I can say, Roeland Street is the main artery of the East District of Cape Town, this street stretched, and ended up joining Buintenkant, Canterbury and Harrington Street and stretched to the South African seat of the government, the parliament. This is the same street President Ramaphosa allowed to be used as his Tarmac carpet for the grandest political event of the year 2017. When he was giving the first speech to the society as the leader of South Africa- the State of the Nation Address.
This is the first street I found myself at when I reach Cape town for the first time, I planned to get to the campus, as I was behind the time, I did go to the campus with my bags because I was eager to meet my lecture, Sisanda Nkoala. The first time to hear about it was through Sisanda’s email which was requesting all first-year students to meet her at the campus for the first time. If I can say, this street is the safest one for a visitor, the problem is that around February it is too hot.
CPUT building in Roeland Street.
CPUT informatic and design building.
The Roeland campus is situated just minutes away from the Cape Town campus. It is the home of the Faculty of Informatics and Design. It is at 80 Roeland Street. In this building, media students can access all studying materials. You can access the free internet here; students can also write their tests and assignment using computers from here. It is a safer place to be in, many people work there, including security guards.
The Kimberly Hotel.
The kimberley Hotel in the heart of Cape Town.
The Kimberley Hotel is situated on the corner of Buitenkant and Roeland Street. It is in the heart of Cape Town. This hotel pub was built in 1895, at this time I was not born yet, it is a very long time, this shows that this hotel pub is one of the oldest buildings in Cape Town. According to my thoughts and the research I have done, I think this hotel pub was named Kimberley Hotel because it was the starting point for the settlers, miners and prospectors who travelled on horse-drawn carriages to the town of Kimberley’s diamond mine.
My first time at this place was when I was lost, I was going to my sister’s place which is next to the parliament, but because it was my first time in Cape Town, I didn’t know I was supposed to go straight. I ended up sitting at one of the tables which were outside. There were many people inside and outside, one can tell that the service is good. People who were there seems to have peace. When I ask one of the people who were there, about the service he said the service is good, they offer good food. That means one can recommend this hotel pub to visitors.
This street can accommodate everyone, it has something for everyone, and it is not a bad idea to visit it, you can pick something good from there. There is a lot to talk about in Roeland. It does worth a visit, come and get some adventure.
